Welcome to Coach Des Talks blog post. Girl, I don't know about you, but every now and then I need an extra push to get me moving and UP! May this bit of inspiration motivate you to start getting up, and sooner than later.
"Woman Up!"
I'll be posting monthly blogs of inspiration and motivation, in hopes of inspiring you to find your "I" in WIN.
Woman Up, Girl!
Every young teenager, young woman, and grown woman needs a refresher and reminder to "Woman Up!"
Girl, it’s time to “WOMAN UP!” There is purpose in you. You are the purpose! Women are underestimated. Often, we feel less than our counterparts and others. We are at a pivotal time in history, where we have to use our resources, voice and influence.
Have you looked to see what resources you have available to you? All resources are not monetary. Some resources are networking, friends, or even family. Whatever you are trying to accomplish cannot be done on an island or alone. You have to partner with others to assist with birthing your vision. Be okay with allowing others to share their take on your plans. Now, please know that I’m not saying share your vision with others who can’t handle it. I’m referring to sharing with other leaders who aren’t intimidated by your vision or drive.
What is your influence? Is it in your writings, your inspiration, your motivation, your encouragement, or your problem-solving skills? Whichever or whatever it may be, find your voice. Pay attention to what you are good at and do so well that others will hire you for it. This will help you find your “Voice.”
Who are you influencing with your area of expertise? Girl, make sure your influence is not babysitting others. I can write a book about babysitting and encouraging others to pursue their own vision. I ended up wasting so much time on them. I could have easily helped so many others who were ready and not holding on to a security blanket of excuses. I had to “Woman Up, Girl” and begin doing what was in the best interest of my own family. I had to make hard decisions in being okay with letting go of some friendships which were toxic, unhealthy, unrealistic, and inauthentic. That was the beginning of me learning to “Woman Up” in almost every area of my life.
You have influence and you can help another girl, teen, or woman find their resource, their voice, their influence, no matter how great or small the impact may be.
“Woman Up, Girl”! It’s your moment to mark your place in history!
